Nia Vardalos, who wrote and starred as Toula Portokalos in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and its 2016 sequel, took to social media to confirm that a third installment is not only in the works, but it's currently filming in Athens, Greece. And on My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, Vardalos will assume yet another role.

"Guess who the director is?" she says in the video. "It's me!"

The original My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which earned Vardalos an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. The movie is the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. Watch Vardalos' announcement below.

Both movies in the Big Fat Greek franchise co-starred John Corbett, Lainie Kazan, Andrea Martin and Joey Fatone, but Vardalos has yet to confirm which cast would be returning for the threequel. Michael Constantine, who starred as Portokalos patriarch Gus, died last year and will not appear in the movie.

"He had told me he wouldn't be able to join us for the third film and his wish was that we go on," Vardalos shared at the time. "I wrote the screenplay to reflect Michael's decision and will always treasure his last messages to me, hoping we were filming soon... Please do stop calling my mom to ask if you can be in it and please do not tell me your ideas, the script is finished. (And no Toula and Ian are not grandparents!)"

Vardolas made her directorial debut with 2009's I Hate Valentine's Day, which also starred Corbett. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 comes courtesy of Playtone, Gold Circle, HBO and Focus Features, though no release date has been set yet.
