Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt has cheated death countless times over the past three decades — and six Mission: Impossible movies — but Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will be his "most dangerous mission yet."
That mission, should he choose to accept it, involves facing new foes (played by Esai Morales and Pom Klementieff) and tracking down a new weapon capable of destroying all of humanity. It also involves a car chase through the streets of Rome, a brawl atop a moving train, and at one point, riding a motorcycle off a cliff.
The regular IMF team of Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson are all back, as is Vanessa Kirby, reprising her role as White Widow, and Henry Czerny as former IMF director Eugene Kittridge. Hayley Atwell joins the cast, though little is known about the character she is playing.
"Our lives are the sum of our choices, and we cannot escape the past. Ethan, this mission of yours is going to cost you dearly," Kittridge warns Hunt in the movie's official trailer. "Listen to me: The world's coming after you."
Cruise first outing as Ethan Hunt was in 1996's Brian De Palma-directed Mission: Impossible. Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie took the reigns for 2015's Rogue Nation and continued with 2018's Fallout, before helming the upcoming two-part Dead Reckoning.
Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One is in theaters July 12. Watch the trailer below.
