Here is a comprehensive list of the jaw-dropping things Tom Cruise does in the teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One: Gets behind the wheel for at least two high-speed car chases, rides a horse through the desert while being shot at, fisticuffs on top of a runaway train, and rides a motorcycle off the edge of a cliff. At some point there's a submarine, too.
Of course, we also know Cruise did all of those stunts himself. Dead Reckoning Part One marks superspy Ethan Craft's seventh outing in the franchise and while the trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot of the movie, it sees Craft receiving an ominous warning from IMF Director Kittridge.
"Your days of fighting for the so-called 'greater good' are over," says Henry Czerny's Kittridge (who last appeared in the original 1996 Mission: Impossible). "You're fighting to save an ideal that doesn't exist. It never did. You need to pick a side."
Also back are Ving Rhames' Luther, Simon Pegg's Benji, Rebecca Ferguson's Isla and Vanessa Kirby's Alanna Mitsopolis, along with franchise newcomers Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff and Esai Morales as the movie's primary villain. As with Rogue Nation and Fallout before it, Dead Reckoning hails from Cruise's frequent collaborator, director Christopher McQuarrie. Watch the trailer below.
Paramount Pictures will release Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in theaters on July 14, 2023, with Dead Reckoning Part Two slated to arrive on June 28, 2024.
