This takes "next round's on me" to a whole new level. In The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Zac Efron stars as Chickie Donohue, a Marine vet who decides on a whim to travel to the frontlines of the Vietnam War to bring the soldiers a cold one. "I'm going to show them this country is still behind 'em."

Based on a true story, the movie co-stars Russell Crowe as a war photographer, Bill Murray as a bartender known as The Colonel, and Jake Picking, Kyle Allen and Will Ropp co-star as Chickie's intended beer recipients. But the thing about smuggling beer into a war zone, is that you end up in war. Lest you wonder how true this story actually is, the trailer reminds you: "A real guy actually did this."

Based on John "Chick" Donohue and J. T. Molloy's bestseller The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty, and War, the movie is directed by Peter Farrelly from a script he adapted with Pete Jones and his Green Book co-writer Brian Currie.

This is Farrelly's first film since Green Book won Best Picture at the 91st Oscars in 2019, with the filmmaker taking home Best Original Screenplay. (Green Book earned five nominations in total and won three, with Mahershala Ali also winning Best Supporting Actor.)

The Greatest Beer Run Ever will premiere during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival before debuting on Apple TV+ on Sept. 30. Watch the trailer below.
