"Part Two is where the fun begins," Denis Villeneuve told A.frame. The three-times Oscar-nominated filmmaker began his adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi novel in 2021's Dune — introducing the desert planet of Arrakis and Timothée Chalamet as its young prince, Paul Atreides — and now completes his vision in Dune: Part Two.

The follow-up continues Paul's saga alongside Zendaya's Chani and the Fremen, as he seeks revenge on the Harkonnen family (led by Stellan Skarsgård's villainous Baron Vladimir Harkonnen) and attempts to fulfill his destiny as the Kwisatz Haderach. Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Charlotte Rampling all reprise their roles from the first film.

Part Two also introduces a number of new characters from Herbert's text, including Oscar winner Christopher Walken as the galaxy's supreme ruler, Emperor Shaddam IV; Oscar nominee Florence Pugh as his daughter, Princess Irulan Corrino; Oscar nominee Austin Butler as the sadistic Harkonnen prince, Feyd-Rautha; and Léa Seydoux as Bene Gesserit sister Lady Margot.

"The second part of the story is definitely more cinematic, so there's a number of scenes that I can't wait to attack. That's my favorite part of the book, so it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm deeply inspired," teased Villeneuve. "What will be interesting is how to make sure we don't repeat ourselves."

2021's Dune received 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and won six: Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects. Much of the team behind the first film — including composer Hans Zimmer and director of photography Greig Fraser — returned for the sequel.

Dune: Part Two will open in theaters on Nov. 3. Watch the trailer below.
