A Different Man sure is living up to its title.
Sebastian Stan has shared the first official photo of himself in A24's psychological thriller, A Different Man — and the actor is quite literally unrecognizable full prosthetics. Stan stars in the movie as Edward, an outcast who undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, only to become fixated on the man starring as him in a stage production based on his life.
The film is by indie writer and director Aaron Schimberg (Chained for Life) and co-stars Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) and Adam Pearson. A Different Man is currently in production in New York City.
Stan, who is also an executive producer on the project, revealed that the "incredible" prosthetic work is courtesy of makeup artist Mike Marino, who earned his first Oscar nomination this year for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for Coming 2 America. In conversation with A.frame, Marino called his work on that film "prosthetics that have never really been quite as real before."

This isn't Stan's first transformation in recent memory, though none have been quite as dramatic. He fully committed to played a charming cannibal opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones in Hulu's Fresh, and channelled real-life rocket Tommy Lee in the streamer's series, Pam & Tommy. (He earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for the latter.)
A release date for A Different Man has not yet been announced.
