You wouldn’t think one of Hollywood’s funniest couples was behind the new Netflix documentary with the most ominous name.
But sure enough—Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed is produced by none other than Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone.
After years of churning out riotous comedies like Tammy and Life of the Party, the power couple and producing partners now turn to documentaries. The beloved American painter, host and instructor is their first subject, and we can’t say we saw that one coming.
McCarthy and Falcone are on a recent episode of KCRW’s The Treatment podcast, however, to contextualize this unpredictable career move.
They also gush about the near universal admiration people felt for the artist and reflect on how spending so much time focused on Bob Ross has really changed the way each approaches filmmaking.
Give it a listen—before or after you watch the doc, now out on Netflix.
