The man behind intergalactic globetrotter Captain Kirk has made it to the final frontier.

William Shatner, at 90 years young, took a ride on Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket to the edge of space on Oct. 13, becoming the first Academy member to slip the surly bonds of Earth.

Check out this wonderful video of the Star Trek legend discussing his experience after landing back on our humble planet. It's chock-full of great quotes—as usual for the famously expressive Shatner.

In fact, he may just be the most eloquent space traveler in history. But we might be biased … He's an Academy member, after all.
