Netflix just released a teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio—a passion project co-directed with Mark Gustafson.

The film, set for a December 2022 release, features Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio—along with a host of other notables including John Turturro, Cate Blanchett, Finn Wolfhard, Tim Blake Nelson, Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton and Ron Perlman.

In a press release from 2018, del Toro described his vision for Pinocchio as "an innocent soul with an uncaring father who gets lost in a world he cannot comprehend. He embarks on an extraordinary journey that leaves him with a deep understanding of his father and the real world."

Del Toro added: "No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio."
