The 94th Oscars is a three-time Emmy nominee!
On Tuesday, the Television Academy (along with presenters J.B. Smoove and Melissa Fumero) announced nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards, with the 2022 Oscars telecast earning three nominations. Held on March 27, 2022, the ceremony aired live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide, directed by Glenn Weiss and hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.
The nominations are:
Outstanding Variety Special (Live) in recognition of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Will Packer, Shayla Cowan, and Rob Paine, who produced the 94th Oscars.
Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special in recognition of Production Designer David Korins and Art Director Margaux Lapresle.
Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming in recognition of Beyoncé's performance of "Be Alive," which opened this year's broadcast. Fatima Robinson choreographed the routine.
In addition, a number of Academy governors had associations with nominated series:
Howard Berger, who did special effects makeup on Hulu's Candy (which is nominated for Outstanding Main Title Design).
Susanne Bier, who directed and executive produced Showtime's The First Lady (which is nominated for Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Period Costumes, and Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling).
Debra Zane, who is the casting director on Netflix's Cowboy Bebop (which is nominated for Outstanding Main Title Design).
Rita Wilson, who stars on Paramount+'s 1883 (which is nominated for Outstanding Cinematography For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, and Outstanding Music Composition For A Limited Or Anthology Series, Movie Or Special (Original Dramatic Score)).
As did Academy Museum trustees:
Ryan Murphy, who is the executive producer of FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story, which received five nominations.
Ted Sarandos, who is Co-CEO of Netflix, which received 105 nominations.
