The fifth and final Indiana Jones movie has an official release date: June 30, 2023. Harrison Ford himself announced the news onstage during Thursday's Star Wars Celebration, where Lucasfilm also revealed the first official look at Indiana Jones back in action.

It's been 14 years since Indy last appeared in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and more than four decades since he first swung into theaters in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark. Though the first look photo reveals little about the plot of the movie, it does tease the archaeologist adventurer's return, his iconic fedora and a glimpse of his bullwhip clearly visible even in silhouette. See the photo below.

The announcement came as Ford celebrated longtime Indiana Jones composer John Williams, who will also provide the score for the upcoming fifth film. Onscreen, Ford will be joined by franchise newcomers Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann and Toby Jones.

Two-time Oscar nominee James Mangold (Logan and Ford v Ferrari) takes the reigns as director of this latest installment — the first Indiana Jones movie that will not be directed by Steven Spielberg — from a script by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. Spielberg serves as an executive producer.
