Ariana DeBose is "stepping out of [her] comfort zone" to star in House of Spoils, a new psychological thriller for Amazon Studios and Blumhouse.

DeBose, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress earlier this year for her performance in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, will play an ambitious chef who opens her first restaurant on a remote estate. While contending with kitchen chaos, a dubious investor and her own self-doubts, she must also face the spiteful spirit of the estate's previous owner who wants nothing more than to sabotage her at every turn.

Described as a "tense, psychological and sensuous thriller that will leave hearts pounding and mouths watering," House of Spoils appears to be the latest in a growing trend of foodie-centric thrillers, after Hulu's stylish cannibal flick Fresh and the upcoming Anya Taylor-Joy horror-satire, The Menu.

House of Spoils hails from writer-directors Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy (2019's Blow the Man Down), with Blumhouse Television President Chris McCumber saying, "We're excited to see Ariana's fresh, bold and spirited energy that won her an Oscar in a role that is completely different. And with the gifted filmmaking team of Bridget and Danielle, the talent in front of and behind the camera is exceptional."

For her part, DeBose reacted on Instagram, writing, "New adventures πŸ§‘πŸΎβ€πŸ³ So excited to dive in with Danielle, Bridget, Prime Video, Blumhouse, & our incredible producing team πŸ™ŒπŸΎ Stepping out of my comfort zone…"

DeBose has quite the full dance card already, as she will also star in director Matthew Vaughn's spy flick Argylle, alongside Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as in Sony's Marvel superhero movie Kraven the Hunter, playing voodoo priestess Calypso opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson's titular antihero.

House of Spoils is currently in pre-production and does not have a release date.
